Paul invited me to be a research assistant for a trip to the Manu'a Islands, a group of three islands that are part of American Samoa. Few people live on these islands and the National Park manages over 5,000 acres of land on them. They are 81 miles away, and it should take us about 2-3 hours to travel there by boat. This trip has been in making for a couple months now, but weather permitting, we will finally be leaving on Monday and returning the following Saturday. Emma is excited to stay with our good friends, Carol and Jay, and Carol is excited to have Emma's help with their two little boys.
Most of the trip will be spent scuba diving in the waters of Ta'u, and in particular looking at what could be one of the Earth's largest corals. Ta'u has spectacular cliffs that rise thousands of feet out of the water. We will be sleeping a few miles away on the island of Ofu at the
Vaoto Lodge. Ofu is home to only a couple hundred inhabitants and has been rated by many travel guides as having one of the best beaches in the world. That means after a long day of diving, we will be staying right on a beautiful beach. Hmm, evening walks on the beach with your husband during sunset... yeah, that sounds pretty good. Needless to say, I am quite excited and should return with lots of beautiful pictures to put on the website.

Glad you are staying at the lodge, MUCH better than a fale without electricity and running water. Have a wonderful time.
