Swim and Sail Race

On Friday evening Emma participated in a swim/sail relay race to support the South Pacific games. The race was followed by a fundraising dinner at the Yacht Club. The race took place at the Yacht Club's beach in Utulei. Emma is not a fan of open-water swimming to begin with (unless she is wearing her snorkeling gear) and the conditions were less than ideal. It was quite windy, there were big waves, and dark clouds were looming over Rainmaker Mountain. The relay race had three parts: a long swim by the National Team, a sail by the Junior Sailors in their mini sailboats, and a swim by the Junior Swim Team. Despite running headfirst into one of the sail boats and gulping lots of salt water, Emma still ran her hardest to the finish line. Paul and I are very proud of her-- she is one tough kid!
